The Foreign Minister of the Syrian Transitional Government, Asaad al-Shibani, said that the initiative his government proposed to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)\u2014aimed at integrating them into state institutions in exchange for political and rights-based guarantees\u2014has received unprecedented alignment between the United States and Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al-Shibani stated in an interview with Al-Majalla magazine that the initiative is based on \u201cfull integration within state institutions in return for guaranteeing rights and representation,\u201d noting that his government presented the SDF with what he described as a \u201ccomprehensive offer\u201d that includes an agreement, guarantees, and respect for Kurdish rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the proposal does not seek the \u201csurrender\u201d or \u201cdissolution\u201d of the Syrian Democratic Forces, but rather aims\u2014according to his words\u2014at a \u201cstate formula\u201d that provides a sustainable partnership. He said that Ankara and Washington have, for the first time, shown converging positions toward the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al-Shibani explained that his government informed the SDF of its readiness to act as a mediator in any disputes that may arise between them and Turkey should they decide to move forward with the initiative.
