Syria has launched its first direct import operation from China, as Tartus Port received the commercial vessel Queen Vivian arriving from Chinese ports, carrying over 16,000 tons of iron and various equipment for Shanghai Company, according to the Syrian General Authority for Land and Maritime Ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the Authority said that the unloading of the vessel began immediately upon its arrival, describing the step as \u201ca new phase of commercial cooperation between Syria and China.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development comes a day after the Authority announced the resumption of operations at the Free Zone in Damascus International Airport, following a 14-year suspension. The move is part of the government\u2019s broader plan for reconstruction, revitalizing trade, and attracting investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Authority added that reviving activity in ports and free zones would enhance Syria\u2019s position as a regional hub for transport and logistics services.
