Widespread Debate Follows Al-Shara’s First Interview on Syrian Ikhbariya

Damascus – The first televised interview of transitional president Ahmad Al-Shara on Syrian Ikhbariya TV sparked widespread debate across social media platforms, with most comments focusing on the poor quality of the audio, lighting, and video.
Viewers questioned the reasons behind what they described as a technical failure, arguing that the president’s appearance in such a manner was inconsistent with the symbolic significance of the event. Some critics pointed fingers at Minister of Information Hamza Al-Mustafa, citing a lack of qualified personnel and weak technical capabilities.
On the other hand, others defended local media, pointing out that Syria is still in a recovery phase after a 14-year war, and that the issue was related to limited resources and modest equipment.
Amid the growing controversy, Syrian Ikhbariya issued an official statement apologizing to viewers, explaining that the audio malfunction was caused by an unexpected failure in the broadcast equipment. The channel also confirmed that it had published an improved version of the interview on its digital platforms.
Observers believe that despite the technical uproar surrounding the event, it marks the beginning of a new phase in the country’s political and media life after years of war and division.
