Washington Deports Nearly 100 Iranians to Tehran as Part of a Bilateral Agreement

The New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing Iranian and American officials, that the United States has deported nearly 100 Iranians from its territory to Iran, in a move that came as part of an agreement reached between the two sides after months of intensive negotiations.
According to sources, a U.S.-chartered plane departed from Louisiana on Monday, heading to Iran via Qatar, in an operation described as exceptional given the tense relations between the two countries.
The newspaper explained that this step was carried out under special diplomatic understandings, while neither the U.S. government nor the State Department issued an immediate official comment on the operation.
The identities of those deported or the reasons for their presence in the United States were not disclosed. Reports indicated that some chose to leave voluntarily after months spent in detention centers, while others were transferred against their will.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that it is closely coordinating regarding the return of the deportees and assured that they will arrive safely in the country without facing any legal issues.
