Washington Announces Strikes on ISIS Weapons Depots in Southern Syria

U.S. Central Command announced the execution of a military operation targeting weapons storage sites belonging to ISIS in southern Syria, confirming the destruction of 15 locations during airstrikes and ground demolitions carried out between November 24 and 27.

In a statement, the command said the operation was conducted in coordination with partner forces inside Syria, after identifying storage facilities in several areas of rural Damascus. These sites were targeted with precision airstrikes followed by field demolitions of additional locations discovered during the advance.

According to the statement, the operation resulted in the destruction of more than 130 shells and rockets, in addition to assault rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines, and materials used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices.

CENTCOM confirmed that these strikes aim to reduce the organization’s capabilities and prevent its attempts to regroup or carry out potential attacks, noting that ISIS still poses a security threat despite its declining influence in recent years.
