Unannounced Meetings in Latakia Bring Together Turkish Officers and Local Figures

Local sources reported that the Laodicea Resort in Latakia witnessed, on December 2, 2025, a meeting that lasted from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., bringing together two Turkish officers with Fadi Saqr, Ayman Faris, and Anas Ayrout. The sources indicated that the meeting came as part of unannounced consultations, without any official clarification regarding its nature or objectives.

According to the same sources, another meeting was held on the same day inside the resort, bringing together several mukhtars (local chiefs) and members of the Civil Peace Committees. Local circles circulated that the meeting discussed providing financial support estimated at around $800 for each mukhtar or committee member, in exchange for helping mobilize civilians from the Alawite community to participate in marches scheduled for December 8, 2025. Reports also mentioned a reward of $50 for anyone able to gather 20 participants.
