U.S. Central Command Announces 22 Operations Against ISIS in Syria

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces conducted more than 22 operations against the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria, resulting in the killing of five militants and the capture of 19 others.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the operations took place between October 1 and November 6, targeting ISIS cells and positions across multiple areas of the country.
The statement added that these operations are part of the coalition’s ongoing efforts to prevent the group’s resurgence in Syria and Iraq.
The announcement comes shortly after Syria signed a political cooperation declaration with the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, aimed at expanding security and military coordination.
The declaration followed Syrian Interim Prime Minister Ahmed al-Shar’a’s visit to Washington, where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss strengthening counterterrorism cooperation.
