Transitional Government: Our Relations with Russia and China Are Stable and Support the Country’s Stability

In an exclusive interview with CBS, the head of Syria’s transitional government, Ahmad al-Shar`a, stated that relations between Syria and both Russia and China are currently on a calm and stable path. He confirmed that these relations form a fundamental pillar for the country’s stability amid regional and international challenges.
Al-Shar`a explained that cooperation with Moscow and Beijing focuses on supporting reconstruction efforts and strengthening the Syrian economy, emphasizing respect for Syria’s sovereignty and the independence of its decisions. He added that Damascus seeks through these relations to diversify its international partnerships.
During the interview, al-Shar`a expressed his country’s aspiration to enhance economic and military cooperation with Russia and China, especially in facing Western sanctions, affirming that the dialogue with these allies is based on “mutual respect and shared interests.”
These statements come at a time when Syria faces ongoing economic and political challenges, while striving to strengthen its position on the international stage after years of conflict.
