Tension in the Countryside of al-Bab After the Killing of a Child by a Customs Officer Affiliated with the Interim Government

Local sources in northern Syria reported clashes between residents and customs officers affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government in the countryside of al-Bab city in Aleppo province.

According to the sources, the confrontations broke out following a dispute between residents and customs personnel during an inspection and looting campaign in the area, which escalated into an exchange of live fire.

The sources added that one of the customs officers opened fire toward the residents, resulting in the death of a young girl who was near the site of the clashes.

So far, no official statements have been issued by the Interim Government or local authorities regarding the incident or its circumstances.

Eyewitnesses indicated that tensions remain high in the area amid calls to open an investigation and hold those responsible for the shooting accountable.
