Syrian Ministry of Defense Affirms Commitment to March 10 Agreement, Denies Preparations for Military Action

On Monday evening, the Syrian Ministry of Defense reaffirmed its commitment to the March 10 agreement, stating that there are no intentions to launch military operations in the north or northeast of the country.

In a statement, the Ministry clarified that current Syrian Army movements “fall within a redeployment plan along certain axes,” noting that the measure comes “in light of repeated incidents of targeting by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and their attempts to advance at certain points,” according to the statement.

The Ministry added that “the Syrian Army is committed to protecting civilians and their property, as well as ensuring the safety of its personnel and security institutions.”

The statement comes amid continued tensions in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, where the past hours have witnessed intermittent clashes between Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and government forces, alongside local efforts to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.
