Syrian Government Forces Close Tabqa-Salamiyah Road for the 9th Day

The Syrian transitional government forces continue to close the road between Al-Tabqa and Salamiyah in Hama countryside for the 9th consecutive day. This closure has resulted in a near-total paralysis in civilian movement and goods transportation between the two regions.

According to local sources and bus drivers, government forces positioned themselves at the Al-Zakiyah junction near Athriyah area in the Syrian Badia on October 5, blocking the passage of vehicles and travelers, including patients and students. This has led to the detention of thousands of people in areas between checkpoints.

The forces also closed alternative routes that were previously used for smuggling, making travel even more difficult. Meanwhile, the Autonomous Administration keeps the road open from its side, with dozens of buses attempting to cross the checkpoints daily, but most are forced to return after hours of waiting.

The transitional government had previously closed the Deir Hafer-Aleppo road on September 27, targeting civilians and erecting earth barriers. No official comment has been made on the reasons for the closure or the timing of its reopening.
