SDF: Dangerous Escalation in Ain Issa, al-Shaddadi, and Raqqa Despite the Ceasefire

The Syrian Democratic Forces indicated that there is a dangerous escalation in Ain Issa, al-Shaddadi, and Raqqa, despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement to public opinion regarding the latest developments in the region, stating:

“Despite the announced ceasefire agreement and the statements issued in this regard, factions of the Damascus government continue their attacks on our forces in Ain Issa, al-Shaddadi, and Raqqa.

At this time, violent clashes are taking place between our forces and those factions in the vicinity of ‘al-Aqatan’ Prison in Raqqa, which holds detainees from the terrorist ISIS organization, in an extremely dangerous development.

We affirm to public opinion that the level of threat is escalating significantly, amid attempts by those factions to reach the prison and seize control of it, and the potential serious security repercussions that could threaten stability and open the door to a return of chaos and terrorism.

Accordingly, we place these facts before public opinion and hold the attacking parties fully responsible for any catastrophic consequences that may result from the continuation of these attacks.”
