SDF: Cooperation with the Coalition Is a Crucial Element to Prevent the Return of ISIS

The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed that since December 2024, the date of the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, ISIS has carried out 153 attacks in northern Syria.
Security Operations and International Support
The SDF spokesperson, Abjar Dawood, said during a press conference on Monday that his forces conducted 70 operations with support from the International Coalition, including three large-scale sweeps, resulting in the arrest of 95 individuals, including three leaders. He added that 30 SDF fighters were killed while countering ISIS cell attacks, with 12 others injured, and six civilians killed.
Dawood emphasized that cooperation with the International Coalition is a crucial factor in preventing the organization’s return, calling for more operational and logistical support.
Recent Operations
In early September, the SDF carried out security operations in cooperation with the International Coalition targeting ISIS members in Raqqa and eastern Deir ez-Zor. The Coalition, with SDF support, also conducted a helicopter landing operation in the town of Al-Shahil in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, which resulted in the arrest of dozens before forces withdrew to the U.S. base at Al-Omar oil field.
Despite the heavy losses sustained by the organization, reports indicate that some ISIS remnants are still trying to revive their cells in various parts of Syria.
