SDF Accuses “al-Amshat and al-Hamzat” Factions of Shelling Its Positions in Deir Hafir

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Monday that its positions in the city of Deir Hafir, in eastern Aleppo countryside, were shelled by the “al-Amshat and al-Hamzat” factions, accusing them of targeting civilian homes and endangering residents’ lives.

In a statement, the SDF affirmed its “full and legitimate right to defend its fighters and its people,” noting that the shelling targeted the city indiscriminately by factions affiliated with the Damascus government and listed on international sanctions lists, according to its description.

The statement added that the shelling did not result in any material or human losses among SDF forces, holding the parties that carried out the attack fully responsible for the “crimes and violations” and any consequences that may follow.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of Syria’s transitional government had earlier accused the Syrian Democratic Forces of shelling a military police position in Deir Hafir, resulting in the injury of three personnel—allegations the SDF denied, describing them as “fabricated.”

For its part, state media, citing a military source, reported that elements of the transitional government had begun targeting the sources from which SDF drones were launched in the vicinity of Deir Hafir, east of Aleppo. The source added that SDF drone attacks resulted in the injury of more than six civilians and military police personnel, noting that the transitional government’s response would be limited.
