Renewed Clashes and Artillery Shelling on the Outskirts of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh

Clashes resumed a short while ago on the outskirts of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, coinciding with intermittent artillery shelling that struck the area, leading to a state of tension and fear among the civilian population.

This escalation comes after hours of cautious calm, during which the late-night hours witnessed extensive military movements, including the arrival of large reinforcements consisting of tanks and artillery to the front lines, for both the transitional government and the Turkey-backed factions.

According to local sources, the two neighborhoods are being subjected to indiscriminate shelling, amid a lack of any consideration for the presence of more than half a million civilians residing in the area, raising growing fears of human casualties and severe material damage.

The situation on the ground remains tense, as residents await developments in the coming hours amid calls to halt the escalation and protect civilians.
