Partial Easing of the Siege on Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh Neighborhoods in Aleppo

Security forces in Aleppo city have reopened Al-Awarid and Al-Shehan roads leading to the Al-Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods for pedestrian movement after being closed for several days. However, vehicle entry to the area remains suspended until further notice, according to local sources.

Sources indicated that the removal of earth barriers surrounding the area is expected in the coming hours, which may help facilitate movement between the city’s neighborhoods.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights welcomed this step, considering it a relief to the suffering of the residents, while calling for ensuring safe and organized passage for civilians and the full reopening of the roads.

The Observatory denied reports circulated by media affiliated with the Transitional Government about military mobilization or mortar installations inside the two neighborhoods, confirming that the situation remains stable with no changes on the ground.

Earlier, the Observatory had warned that the ongoing siege imposed on Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods since October 6 could lead to a deterioration of humanitarian conditions, calling for the provision of essential supplies and services to the affected residents.
