New Batch of Syrian Refugees Leaves Lebanon under Voluntary Return Program

Today, Wednesday, a new batch of Syrian refugees in Lebanon arrived in their cities and towns inside Syria as part of the voluntary return program organized by the Lebanese government in coordination with Syrian authorities, and accompanied by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Official media reported that the new batch included 406 refugees who entered Syria through the Jadidat Yabous crossing in the Damascus countryside, transported by buses provided by Lebanese authorities, amid logistical facilitations and organizational procedures from both sides.

This batch is the fifth of its kind this year, with the last return operation having taken place on September 11, involving about 300 refugees who left Lebanon under the same program.

The continuation of return operations comes amid official Lebanese, Syrian, and international efforts to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees wishing to return voluntarily to their areas, with the UNHCR emphasizing that the return must be safe, voluntary, and dignified.
