National Guard Thwarts Movement by Transitional Government Forces West of Sweida

The “National Guard” forces in Sweida Governorate announced that they had foiled an attempted infiltration carried out by elements of the Syrian Transitional Government forces toward one of their military positions west of the governorate.

The National Guard leadership stated in a press release that its units detected an armed group attempting to advance via agricultural roads near the town of Walga, noting that its personnel engaged the group “immediately,” resulting in casualties among the attackers, with no losses reported among the forces.

The statement affirmed that “National Guard forces are in full readiness to counter any attempt at aggression or infiltration,” emphasizing that these measures are part of the “forces’ responsibility to protect the security and stability of the mountain region.”
