Man Killed and His Wife Seriously Injured in Home Invasion in Rural Afrin

A man was killed and his wife severely injured after armed assailants stormed their home in the village of Maryamin in Afrin’s countryside early Thursday.
According to the Afrin Human Rights Organization, Ibrahim Ahmad Yasin was shot dead inside his home, while his wife, Manal Mahmoud, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital in Azaz, where she remains in intensive care.
The organization stated that three armed men entered the home at around 3 a.m., opened fire on the couple, then tied up their only child before fleeing the scene. Ibrahim Yasin died instantly from a direct gunshot wound.
The Afrin region—under the control of Turkey-backed Syrian factions—continues to witness frequent security incidents, including kidnappings, assaults, and internal clashes, with residents reporting persistent lawlessness and deteriorating living conditions.
