Loss of Contact with a Woman After Heading to a Medical Appointment in Homs

Local sources in Homs Governorate reported on Monday that contact has been lost with citizen Jamila Ahmad Shahin (39 years old) from the village of Al-Sha’irat in eastern rural Homs, after she headed to the city of Homs for a medical appointment last Saturday.

According to the available information, Shahin left her home at around 3:00 p.m., after which all contact with her was lost, as her phone has been switched off since that time.

Her family stated that they filed a report with the security authorities immediately after her disappearance, but were told to wait 24 hours before any action could be taken, and were later asked to wait an additional 48 hours.

The family added that the last sighting of Jamila Shahin was captured by surveillance cameras near Al-Nuzha Roundabout in Homs city, before all traces of her disappeared.

The family continues to appeal to the concerned authorities and citizens to help provide any information that could assist in determining her whereabouts.

The city of Homs and its surrounding countryside have witnessed a rise in kidnapping and criminal incidents in recent months, amid residents’ complaints about the lack of effective security measures to curb such occurrences.
