Lebanese Prime Minister Condemns Killing of Municipal Employee During Israeli Incursion in the South

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Thursday condemned the killing of a municipal employee in the town of Blida during an Israeli military incursion into Lebanese territory, describing the incident as a “flagrant assault on the institutions and sovereignty of the Lebanese state.”

In a post on X, Salam said that the targeting of municipal worker Ibrahim Salameh while performing his duties “constitutes a serious violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty,” extending his condolences to the victim’s family and the residents of the town.

“The government stands in full solidarity with our people in the south and the front-line villages, who pay daily the price of their steadfastness on their land and their right to live in safety and dignity under the sovereignty and authority of the Lebanese state,” the prime minister stated.

He added that the Lebanese government “continues to exert pressure through the United Nations and the countries sponsoring the cessation of hostilities agreement to ensure an end to repeated violations and to implement the full Israeli withdrawal from our territory,” referring to the growing tensions along Lebanon’s southern border with Israel.
