Khalil al-Hayya: No Trust in Israeli Commitments, Demanding Guarantees to End the War

Khalil al-Hayya, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, stated that the movement is ready to reach an agreement leading to a permanent end to the war in the Gaza Strip, but it demands clear guarantees from U.S. President Donald Trump and the countries sponsoring the negotiations to ensure the implementation of any agreement reached.

Al-Hayya, who is the chief negotiator for Hamas in the indirect talks with Israel hosted by Egypt, explained that “the Israeli occupation has been tested repeatedly and its commitments cannot be trusted.” He added that “Hamas demands real guarantees from the United States and the sponsoring countries to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.”

In a statement to Cairo News Channel, he indicated that the movement is positively engaging with efforts aimed at reaching an agreement that ensures a ceasefire and the return of calm to the Gaza Strip.
