Israeli Mossad Announces Operations Against Hamas Members in Europe

The Israeli Mossad announced the execution of a security operation targeting a network it said was affiliated with Hamas in several European countries, in cooperation with law enforcement authorities in Germany and Austria.
The agency stated that the operation resulted in the arrest of suspected individuals and the seizure of weapons caches and explosive materials that were prepared for potential attacks against Israeli targets.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, Austrian security forces in Vienna carried out an operation last September that led to the discovery of a hideout containing pistols and explosive materials. Investigations indicated that the weapons belonged to Mohammed Naim, the son of Hamas political bureau official Basem Naim.
The report added that the operation came as part of European security efforts to combat terrorism, amid growing concerns about Hamas’s activities on the continent and the trend among European countries to strengthen legal and security measures to counter incitement and the financing of activities linked to the movement.
The channel noted that since the October 7, 2023 attack, Hamas has intensified its efforts to build cells and organizational structures in Europe and other regions, in ways allegedly similar to methods used by the Iranian regime and its proxies abroad.
