Israeli Government Approves Changing the Name of the Gaza War to “The Renaissance War”

On Sunday, the Israeli government approved changing the official name of the recent war in the Gaza Strip from the “War of the Iron Swords” to the “Renaissance War,” based on a proposal submitted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli Channel 12 quoted Netanyahu at the start of the government session saying: “Today, I present to the ministers a proposal to adopt an official and permanent name for the war… It is the Renaissance War.”

The Prime Minister added: “After two years of continuous fighting, we remember how we began. We rose from the horrific disaster on October 7th, and this war represents the rise of our people and its continuation as a direct extension of the War of Independence.”

Netanyahu pointed out that his country “was able to eliminate the existential threat posed by the Iranian axis,” in his words.

The Israeli Cabinet Secretary published a draft government decision on Saturday evening, which mandates adopting the new name, following a direct request from Netanyahu.

Israeli media reported that the name change will cost taxpayers approximately two million shekels, covering updates to official documents, military publications, and commemorative symbols.
