Israeli Army Announces Recovery of Two New Hostage Bodies from Hamas

The Israeli army announced today, Thursday, that it has identified the bodies of two new hostages among those handed over by Hamas to Israel yesterday, Wednesday, as part of the ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

The army stated in a release that the bodies belong to Einbar Hayman, 27 years old from the city of Haifa, and Mohammed Al-Atrash, a 39-year-old Bedouin soldier. The identification process took place at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the families were officially notified to proceed with burial ceremonies.

Hamas had handed over four hostage bodies over the past two days, and Israel announced that it has been able to identify three of them so far.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz warned that his country “will resume fighting if Hamas does not fully comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement,” which was mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The first phase of the agreement includes the exchange of hostages and prisoners, whereby Israel will release about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of 48 Israeli detainees, including 20 alive and 28 bodies. The agreement also includes a ceasefire, a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the deployment of an international monitoring mechanism to oversee the implementation of its terms.
