Israel Targets Homs and Latakia with Strikes on Turkish Arms Warehouses

An Israeli security source confirmed on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, that the Israeli Air Force carried out strikes early today targeting sites in the Syrian city of Homs. These sites included warehouses of Turkish-made missiles and air defense equipment that were recently transported to the area, according to reports by “Al Arabiya” and “Al Hadath.”

The source explained that “Turkey is trying to provoke us and drag us into a military confrontation we do not fear, but we do not want it.” He added: “Israel is in talks with the Syrian leadership regarding security arrangements, but it will not hesitate to use force, when necessary,” noting that “the internal situation in Syria is fragile, and Israel is determined to disarm the southern Syrian region and will strike any threat to its security, regardless of its source or location.”

Meanwhile, Syrian media sources reported that the strikes targeted sites around Latakia and Homs, including ammunition warehouses belonging to the Syrian Armed Forces and an air defense school in Homs.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the Israeli targeting, considering it a “violation of Syrian sovereignty,” emphasizing that it “will not succumb to any attempts aimed at undermining its sovereignty or harming its national security,” and calling on the UN Security Council and the international community to “stop the Israeli aggressions.”
