Israel Bombards Areas in Southern Lebanon and Conducts Intensive Low-Altitude Flights

Israeli warplanes carried out, on Wednesday, airstrikes targeting the surroundings of the towns of Zefta and Nmeiriyeh in the Nabatieh district, in addition to a valley located between the areas of Houmine and Roumine in southern Lebanon, according to local sources.
The sources indicated that Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were flying at low altitude over various areas of southern Lebanon, as part of the continued aerial violations.
For his part, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced that Israeli forces had attacked several Hezbollah-affiliated sites. He said, in a statement, that the strikes targeted military buildings and weapons storage sites, stressing that Israel will continue, as he put it, to work on “eliminating any threat.”
These strikes come despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah being in effect since November 2024, following the confrontations that erupted in 2023. They also coincide with the Lebanese government’s continued implementation of disarmament measures south of the Litani River, in accordance with the provisions of the ceasefire agreement.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam had recently announced that the Lebanese army will begin, at the start of next year, efforts to dismantle and remove weapons outside the framework of the state north of the Litani River.
The ceasefire agreement, brokered by the United States and France, stipulates a halt to hostilities, the withdrawal of Hezbollah to north of the Litani River, leading to its disarmament across various parts of Lebanon, in addition to the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the positions it advanced to during the latest war. However, Israel continues to maintain five positions inside Lebanese territory.
