Injury of a Ministry of Defense Personnel Due to Landmine Explosion Near the Syrian-Lebanese Border

Homs – A Ministry of Defense personnel sustained severe injuries resulting in the amputation of his leg, following the explosion of a landmine left over from the war in the Talkalakh area in western Homs countryside near the Syrian-Lebanese border.
According to documentation by the “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights,” the number of military personnel and members of engineering teams specialized in dismantling mines and war remnants who have died since the beginning of this year has risen to 63, in addition to 30 injured, including 4 from civil defense teams. The distribution is as follows:
Aleppo: 16 killed and 8 injured, including a member of the “National Army” and 3 from engineering teams.
Homs: 14 killed, including a member of the Free Syrian Army, and 2 injured.
Hama: 6 killed and 4 injured from mine teams, including one army member.
Idlib: 10 killed.
Raqqa: 1 killed.
Deir Ezzor: 7 killed and 9 injured, including a leader and 8 members.
Rif Dimashq: 3 killed.
Latakia: 4 killed and 4 injured from civil defense.
As-Suwayda: 2 killed.
Tartus: 3 members of “Abu Bakr Brigade” injured.
Various Syrian provinces continue to witness frequent incidents caused by the widespread presence of war remnants and landmines planted in agricultural lands and residential areas, posing a constant threat to the lives of both civilians and military personnel alike.
