Increase in Chaos and Security Breakdown in Transitional Government Areas in Syria

Areas under the control of the transitional government are witnessing a notable rise in incidents of security breakdown and widespread chaos, amid a clear inability to control the situation, secure the streets, and prevent the spread of weapons.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a fight broke out in the Al-Nayrab refugee camp in Aleppo over a dispute regarding the use of motorcycles. The altercation quickly escalated to the use of knives, resulting in several people being injured with varying degrees of wounds, amid ongoing tension among residents.

In another incident, a young man was killed in the city of Atarib in western Aleppo countryside due to the explosion of a bomb he was handling, highlighting the dangers posed by the availability of weapons and war remnants in the area.

Additionally, the remains of five individuals, including children, were found inside a sewage network during maintenance work in the Al-Qadam neighborhood of Damascus in a shocking incident that raised residents’ concerns about the rise of mysterious crimes. Similarly, additional unidentified remains were discovered near a gas well in the Al-Dibiyat area in eastern Homs countryside.

The Observatory indicated that since the beginning of 2025, more than 200 people have been killed due to random shootings and accidental explosions of weapons, including a large number of children and women, reflecting the fragile security situation and increasing fears of deteriorating stability in transitional government areas.
