Hamas Welcomes International Recognition of the State of Palestine and Calls for Practical Steps

Hamas welcomed the recognition of the State of Palestine by Britain, Canada, and Australia, considering it an “important step” towards affirming the rights of the Palestinian people.

In a statement, the movement emphasized the necessity that recognition be accompanied by practical measures, foremost among them working to halt military operations in Gaza.

Hamas also called on the international community to strengthen diplomatic and legal actions against Israel and to cease all forms of cooperation with it, including increasing pressure and sanctions.
