Foiling an Attack on Neighborhoods in Aleppo and Destroying Four Heavy Military Vehicles

The Internal Security Forces in the city of Aleppo foiled a wide-scale attack launched by armed groups affiliated with the transitional government on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid. They managed to destroy four military vehicles loaded with heavy weapons, in addition to casualties and injuries among the ranks of the transitional government factions.

Security sources reported that the attack began this morning, as the attacking groups used a number of heavy vehicles in an attempt to storm the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh. In response, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) confronted the attack and succeeded in completely thwarting it after violent clashes.

The sources added that the operation resulted in the destruction of four military vehicles belonging to the transitional government, along with the killing and wounding of a number of their members, without disclosing an exact toll so far.

In the same context, the sources pointed to the continued shelling with heavy weapons on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid, which poses a direct threat to the lives of civilians and their property.

The security situation in the area remains tense, amid warnings of further escalation that could exacerbate the suffering of the civilian population.
