Field Tensions and Clashes in Maskanah Due to Transitional Government’s Violation of Redeployment Agreement

The city of Maskanah in eastern Aleppo countryside is currently witnessing military clashes following the transitional government’s violation of the agreement signed with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) under international sponsorship.

The Syrian Democratic Forces reported that the clashes erupted as a result of the transitional government forces entering Maskanah before the withdrawal of SDF fighters was completed, in clear breach of the terms agreed upon in the agreement.

The SDF affirmed in a statement that stopping the clashes requires an end to this violation and full adherence to the agreement’s provisions by Damascus, until the withdrawal of our fighters from the cities of Maskanah and Deir Hafer is completed as agreed.

Earlier, the Syrian Democratic Forces had held the transitional government in Syria responsible for violating the agreement and entering Deir Hafer and Maskanah before the SDF’s redeployment was completed, calling on the international powers sponsoring the agreement to intervene urgently to prevent the deterioration of the field situation.
