Explosions in the Mezzeh Area of Damascus and Reports of Casualties

Local sources reported on Friday evening that explosions occurred in the Mezzeh 86 neighborhood in the center of the capital, Damascus, resulting in civilian casualties. The sources explained that the sound of ambulances was heard extensively in the area following the explosion.

According to the sources, the fall of an unknown explosive device in the neighborhood led to the death of a woman in her thirties and the injury of several people with varying degrees of wounds.

For its part, the official Syrian news agency SANA stated that an explosion occurred in the Mezzeh area and that the competent authorities are working to determine its nature. The local newspaper Al-Watan also indicated that a missile had fallen on one of the neighborhood’s streets, leading to a security alert and the deployment of patrols in the surrounding area.
