Explosion of an Ammunition-Laden Vehicle in the City of Al-Bukamal, East of Deir ez-Zor

Local sources reported that an explosion caused by a vehicle loaded with ammunition occurred inside the city of Al-Bukamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in fatalities and injuries according to preliminary information.

Eyewitnesses said that the explosion occurred in a “pickup” truck loaded with ammunition and belonging to the Ministry of Defense of the Syrian Transitional Government, leading to a fire and the rise of dense columns of smoke at the site of the incident.

Circulating video footage showed the vehicle engulfed in flames following the explosion, amid a security alert in the surrounding area.

So far, official authorities have not issued a statement clarifying the causes of the explosion or the final toll of casualties and material losses.
