Explosion Heard in Kafr Sousa Area of Syrian Capital Damascus

A loud explosion was heard on Thursday evening in the Kafr Sousa district in central Damascus, according to eyewitnesses, causing panic among residents.

Local sources reported that the blast occurred near a building belonging to the General Intelligence Directorate, while unconfirmed reports suggested it was caused by a suicide bombing allegedly carried out by an ISIS-affiliated attacker, resulting in several casualties among security personnel.

The Syrian Interim Government has not yet issued an official statement clarifying the circumstances of the explosion or the extent of the human and material losses.
