Deir ez-Zor and Hama teachers reject distant transfers from their homes

A number of teachers in the Directorate of Education in the province organized a protest today, condemning the new formations issued yesterday, expressing their dissatisfaction with the lack of justice and transparency in transfer and appointment decisions among schools.
This protest comes as part of a series of protest movements in various areas of Deir ez-Zor, where teachers demanded a review of the recent decisions and a reconsideration of the distribution criteria to ensure justice for all educational staff.
In the same context, the city of Hama witnessed a similar protest in front of the Directorate of Education this morning, organized by teachers from western rural Hama, objecting to arbitrary transfer decisions that affected more than 1,000 male and female teachers who were transferred to schools far from their places of residence.
The protesters in Hama expressed their rejection of the decisions that increase the burdens of long travel and security risks, considering that the transfer process contains motives for sectarian targeting, as it particularly included the complexes of Masyaf, Salhab, al-Suqaylabiyah, and Shataha.
The teachers affirm that these decisions are “unfair” and increase their daily suffering in light of the difficult security and economic conditions, demanding that they be treated fairly and assigned to schools close to their places of residence.
It is worth noting that the wave of recent decisions in the educational sector in areas under the control of the transitional government has sparked wide controversy, amid accusations that they increase pressure on teaching staff and threaten their lives in a tense security and sectarian environment.
