Damascus: Israeli Incursions into Syria Undermine Regional Security and Stability

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Alibi, said on Thursday that Israeli incursions into Syrian territory are illegal and undermine the Syrian government’s efforts to protect regional security and stability.
In statements to the Syrian Al-Ikhbariyah channel following a UN Security Council session, Alibi said this message was delivered directly to the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, noting that Israel participated for the first time in the session to discuss the Syrian situation and attempted to justify its presence and operations inside the country.
The Syrian envoy affirmed that Syria’s approach is based on refraining from responding to provocations and adopting diplomatic solutions, which strengthens Syria’s position in international forums and increases Israel’s political isolation.
He pointed to the role of the United States as a mediator, explaining that Washington supported Syria by sponsoring UN resolutions related to human rights and the Golan Heights. The first resolution received 111 votes and the second 146 votes in the UN General Assembly, which he described as an important achievement for Syria and the Syrian people.
Alibi noted that the Security Council’s visit to Syria will last for one day and will include official meetings with economic institutions and local communities, stressing that the Council is aware of the Israeli violations and the reports submitted by UN forces, and that its position reflects the international community’s support for Syria in confronting ongoing violations.
