Clashes in the Damascus countryside after an arrest attempt during a wedding ceremony

The town of Deir Muqaran in the Wadi Barada area of the Damascus countryside witnessed armed clashes between residents and forces affiliated with the Syrian transitional government this evening, following an attempt by the latter to arrest a wanted individual during a wedding ceremony.

According to preliminary information, the clashes resulted in the injury of seven people from both sides, while the forces deployed large military reinforcements to the town, which increased the state of tension and anxiety among the residents.

These developments come amid ongoing security tensions and repeated friction between residents and government forces or armed groups in some Syrian regions, which sometimes leads to local clashes.
