Civilian Injured in Shelling of Sheikh Maqsoud Neighborhood as Number of Wounded in Aleppo Rises

A civilian was injured as a result of shelling carried out by armed groups affiliated with the transitional government on the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, leading to an increase in the number of wounded and injured since the attacks on residential neighborhoods began.
Local sources reported that the ongoing shelling targeting the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods since January 6 has so far resulted in 58 civilians sustaining injuries of varying severity.
The sources added that a citizen, Ahmed Abdel Ghani, 65 years old, was injured due to shelling that hit the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood. He was transferred to one of the hospitals inside the neighborhood to receive treatment, and his condition was described as stable.
In the same context, the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid neighborhoods continue to come under intense shelling using various types of weapons, resulting so far in the deaths of 8 people, most of them women and children, in addition to dozens of wounded.
The toll is expected to rise further as attacks and shelling on residential areas continue, amid growing fears for the safety of civilians.
