Cairo Reaffirms Its Support for Syria’s Unity and Denounces Israeli Attacks

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badir Abdel-Aati, during his meeting with his Syrian counterpart Asa`ad Al-Sheibani in Cairo, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territories, renewing Cairo’s rejection of any Israeli attacks on Syria.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 164th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, where the two ministers discussed the latest developments related to the Syrian crisis and ways to enhance coordination between the two countries.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdel-Aati emphasized his country’s steadfast position supporting Syrian state institutions and the necessity of reaching a comprehensive political solution that achieves stability in Syria and maintains regional security. He also condemned the repeated Israeli attacks, describing them as violations of international law and the Disengagement Agreement signed in 1974 between Damascus and Tel Aviv.
For its part, the Syrian Foreign Ministry clarified via the “X” platform that the meeting addressed bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest within the framework of ongoing coordination between Cairo and Damascus.
It is noted that the two ministers had met previously in June on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum.
