Body of Engineer Found in Daraa After Abduction

Local authorities in the city of Al-Sanamayn, in northern rural Daraa, have found the body of engineer Majd Khalil, a resident of the Al-Sumariya neighborhood in Damascus and originally from the village of Harif in western rural Masyaf, Hama. His body was discovered two days after he was abducted while returning from his job at the Transport Directorate affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government.

Local sources reported that the body showed signs of torture and multiple gunshot wounds, indicating that he was killed following his abduction. The body was transferred to Al-Sanamayn Hospital amid a state of heightened security in the area.

Last month, the engineer had been targeted in a security campaign carried out by an armed faction in the Al-Sumariya neighborhood of Damascus, led by a man known as “Abu Hudhayfah.” The campaign reportedly included violations against residents, such as arbitrary arrests, beatings, sectarian insults, and humiliating practices, according to the same sources.
