Autonomous Administration to North Press: School Attendance to Be Suspended Following Rise in Student Influenza Cases

An official from the Autonomous Administration told North Press on Tuesday that school attendance will be suspended following an increase in influenza cases among students.
He added that there is a “joint meeting between the Health and Education Authorities to discuss how to address the widespread influenza.”
He also stated that “school attendance will be suspended to prevent the spread of the virus among students, particularly the younger ones.”
He noted that schools will be disinfected during the suspension period, and a statement will be issued regarding the extent and severity of the influenza outbreak.
Earlier today, a doctor at Kobani Hospital told North Press that the number of influenza (H3N2) cases is increasing, indicating that daily hospital visits from children and the elderly range “between 900 – 1000 cases per day.”
Local media also reported that Al-Shaab Hospital in Derik (Al-Malikiyah) receives more than 200 cases daily showing symptoms of viral flu.
