Alawites in Lebanon Demand UN to Guarantee Their Basic Rights

Alawite Syrian refugees in Lebanon have called on the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Human Rights Commission to ensure their basic rights, including education, housing, and medical care.

These demands come amid the deteriorating humanitarian conditions faced by the refugees, who expressed their frustration over what they described as the “international community’s passive stance” toward their plight. They emphasized that the current circumstances require urgent action to secure the minimum necessities of life for them and their families.

Sources indicate that these calls are part of ongoing efforts by civil society and refugees to raise international attention toward the difficult humanitarian cases in Lebanon.
