Al-Shara: Trump’s Decision is “Historic” and We Call for Lifting Sanctions

Ahmed al-Shara, the president of the Syrian Interim Government, stated in an interview with the American CBS network that President Donald Trump’s announcement to lift sanctions on Syria is a “historic and courageous decision.”

Al-Shara emphasized that his country is awaiting similar steps from other countries around the world, stressing the importance of not wasting time in ending the sanctions that have heavily burdened the Syrian people.

He also expressed his desire to hold a new meeting with Trump “to rebuild bilateral relations directly and transparently.”
