Al-Shara: Syria Stands by Qatar Against Israeli Attacks

The Arab Islamic summit was held in Doha to discuss ways to respond to the Israeli attack on Qatari territory.

Syria confirmed its support for Qatar against the Israeli attacks, according to Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara.
Al-Shara said during the extraordinary summit of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: “Israel has continued its aggression against Syria for nine months… We stand with the State of Qatar against the brutal Israeli attacks.” He pointed out that targeting the mediator is unprecedented.
The summit began on Monday in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the participation of a number of Arab and Islamic leaders to discuss ways to respond to the Israeli attack on Qatari territory.
Israel had bombed a residential area in Doha last Tuesday, resulting in the death of six people, including a Qatari security officer.
The death toll included the son of Khalil al-Hayya, one of Hamas’s prominent leaders abroad, and the head of staff in his office. Hamas stated that its senior leadership survived the assassination attempt.
The attack sparked widespread international condemnation and rare criticism from U.S. President Trump.
U.S. President Donald Trump described Qatar as an important ally of the United States and noted that Israel has freedom to deal with Hamas but must be cautious and think carefully about whom it attacks.
Qatar, alongside Egypt and the United States, is mediating the ongoing conflict in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
