Al-Shara from New York: Syrians Need Unity to Rebuild

Yesterday, Sunday, the President of the Syrian Interim Government, Ahmed Al-Shara, met with a delegation of Syrian community members in the United States as part of his current visit to New York.
Al-Shara called on Syrians to “unify their ranks despite their differences,” adding, “We may not agree on everything, but we must unite, as the world is giving Syrians today an opportunity to prove their ability to rise again.”
He pointed to the important role of the Syrian community in conveying the true image of Syria to the international community, considering that the path has been “arduous and full of challenges,” but at the same time emphasized that “Syria is capable of once again becoming the bride of the Middle East,” as he described it.
Al-Shara explained that what Syrians lack is “a sound plan and unity to rebuild the country,” affirming that Syria possesses “human capital and vast resources” that can contribute to reconstruction once unity and a clear vision are achieved.
