A Woman Killed in Homs After Being Targeted by Armed Attack

An unidentified armed group opened fire on a woman in the Karm al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Homs, leading to her immediate death. The incident comes just 24 hours after armed groups carried out attacks on civilian neighborhoods in Homs and committed violations against residents.
Details of the Incident
Local sources in Homs reported that a woman known as “Um Fahd,” who belongs to the Alawite community, lost her life after being directly shot by gunmen while standing on the balcony of her home in the Karm al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Homs.
The crime occurred on Street 19 within the same neighborhood, where gunmen suddenly opened fire in the direction of the woman, causing fatal injuries that led to her immediate death. The neighborhood witnessed a wave of public anger following the incident due to the continued attacks targeting the city’s residents.
Increase in Crime Rates
Crimes and assassinations of a sectarian nature are on the rise in areas controlled by the transitional government in Syria, particularly in the city of Homs and its countryside. This escalation comes amid the absence of accountability and legal responsibility, the declining role of judicial and security bodies, and the disregard of relevant authorities for the dangers posed by sectarian rhetoric and their failure to take measures to curb it.
