A German business delegation visits Damascus for the first time in 14 years to strengthen economic cooperation

A German business delegation arrived today in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on a visit of its kind for the first time in 14 years, according to Clemens Hach, the acting head of the German Embassy in Syria.

The delegation is participating in the Syrian-Austrian-German Business Forum, aiming to explore investment opportunities and enhance communication channels with Syrian partners. Hach explained that this step represents the beginning of a new phase of economic cooperation between the two countries, with expectations of the development of trade relations in the near future.

The forum comes as part of efforts to rebuild the Syrian economy, with the participation of companies operating in the energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors, and with expectations to announce preliminary agreements for joint projects.

Hach affirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting economic stability in Syria, focusing on transparency and compliance with international standards.
