Nighttime Ceasefire Breach in Suwayda: National Guard Position Targeted by Armed Drone, No Casualties Reported

Suwayda Governorate witnessed a new breach of the ongoing ceasefire late Friday evening, after one of the National Guard’s positions came under attack by an armed drone, with no human casualties reported.
The attack took place during the late hours of the night, when the drone targeted one of the National Guard’s positions, in what was described as a direct violation of the ceasefire currently in effect between the parties in the region.
The drone was launched from areas under the control of the transitional government, further heightening tensions amid a fragile truce that has, in recent days, seen a state of field caution and relative adherence to the terms of the agreement, despite ongoing warnings that it could collapse due to repeated violations and mutual provocations.
In the aftermath of the strike, National Guard forces responded by shelling the sites believed to be the drone’s launch points, stressing that the response came within the framework of legitimate self-defense aimed at protecting military positions and preventing further breaches.
Simultaneously, the surrounding area witnessed a wide-scale security alert, amid fears of possible field escalation should the violations continue—an outcome that threatens to undermine the current de-escalation efforts and bring tensions back to the forefront.
