13 Killed and 4 Injured in 14 Security Incidents Over 24 Hours Across Various Areas of Syria

Several areas in Syria witnessed 14 separate crimes and security incidents over the past twenty-four hours, resulting in the deaths of 13 people and the injury of four others, in events that ranged between assassinations, armed clashes, and explosions of war remnants.
In the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, clashes erupted in several locations against the backdrop of the continued efforts by the transitional government authorities to dismantle primitive oil-refining burners. Three members of the Ministry of Defense affiliated with the transitional government were also killed following the targeting of one of its military sites in the city of Al-Mayadin, east of the province. The town of Dhiban witnessed a state of security alert after gunfire from machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades was fired during celebrations marking the release of a detainee from prison.
In Raqqa province, gunmen targeted a Public Security patrol on the Raqqa–Tabqa road, while four security personnel were killed in an armed attack targeting the Al-Sabahiyah checkpoint at the western entrance of the city of Raqqa. The body of a Public Security member was also found killed near the dam of the town of Al-Mansoura in the western countryside of Raqqa.
In the countryside of Aazaz, north of Aleppo, clashes erupted between two families in the town of Ahtimlat, resulting in the killing of one person amid a state of security alert in the area.
In the city of Homs, the teacher Iman Matanios Grous (47 years old) was killed after being shot with a pistol fitted with a silencer in the Akrama neighborhood, in an incident attributed to unknown gunmen.
In the countryside of Damascus, a young man was killed and another was seriously injured as a result of a hand grenade explosion while they were handling it inside a house in Al-Joura neighborhood in Jaramana camp. One of them died immediately, while the other was transferred to the hospital to receive treatment.
In the western countryside of Suwayda province, a group calling itself the “National Guard” announced that factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense carried out direct shelling targeting civilian homes in the village of Al-Majdal.
In the city of Ras al-Ain in the countryside of Hasakah, a young man was killed and another injured following a dispute that escalated into gunfire targeting their home. A person was also killed in the northern countryside of Aleppo by his cousin’s gunfire as a result of a financial dispute.
In a separate incident, two young men were injured to varying degrees due to the explosion of a landmine left over from the war in the village of Al-Gharra in the Jabal Abdul Aziz (Kazwan) area, southwest of Hasakah.
Local residents describe these incidents as an indication of escalating security chaos in a number of areas, amid ongoing security tensions and the multiplicity of controlling authorities.
